Questions

Before you start

Can I do this without coming to the UAE?

Yes. The application, the documents and the payment are all online. You only travel if you take a residence visa, and that is for the medical and Emirates ID once the licence exists.

How long does it take?

MCFZ's published turnaround for forming a new company is one working day. The parts that take longest sit outside the form: the name check against the national register, and immigration approval for the manager.

What do I need to start?

An email address and a passport. Everything else we either read off the passport or ask for only when your answers make it necessary.

Can a company be a shareholder?

Yes. We will ask who owns that company, and continue until we reach the people behind it. That is a requirement of UAE company law, not a preference.

Can I open a UAE bank account?

A free zone licence lets you apply. Banks decide for themselves, and they weigh the activity, the shareholders and where the money comes from.
